The Buxton Crescent Visitor Experience

We have worked hard to make sure COVID-secure measures are in place to make your visit both enjoyable and safe.  You can find details of our measures on our website:
buxtoncrescentexperience.com/plan-your-visit/covid-19   Your visit, in a timed pre-booked group 'bubble' ticket, will be hosted by a member of staff, and should take between 60 and 90 minutes.

Your ticket is eligible for group of between 1 and 6 people.  Please adhere to local Covid restrictions by only visiting as part of a household group or support bubble.  As per the 'rule of six' guidance - children of all ages are included in your group numbers.
On arrival, we ask that you wear a face covering if possible, and our staff we be on hand to direct you to hand sanitising stations.  While in the Pump Room we ask that you observe standard social distancing.  If you or any of your group are unwell or showing any symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come.  Get in touch with us on visitorinformation@buxtoncrescenttrust.org or call 01298 214577 and we will do our best to refund or reschedule your tickets.

Finding us
To check in for your visit and to redeem your tickets, you will need to head to the Buxton Visitor Centre, just opposite the Crescent in the Pump Room.  Details of where to find us and opening times can again be found on our website: buxtoncrescentexperience.com/plan-your-visit   Details of arriving by public transport and nearby parking are also included on this page.  Unfortunately, because of the nature of the site, there is limited parking available – only set-down and drop off is possible near to the Pump Room.

Timing
You will have booked one of our ‘Buxton Bubble’ tickets, which means your group will be the only members of the public entering the experience in that time slot.  While this greatly reduces our visitor numbers, we felt it was the safest way to enable social distancing while in the Crescent Experience.  Therefore, we ask that you arrive no less than ten minutes before your visit is due to start.

Duration
Each room should take between 5 and 10 minutes to explore, and your overall visit between 60 and 90 minutes.  At the end of the experience, you are welcome to return to the Pump Room to taste the waters and browse our fabulous gift shop.

Toilets
We do not have publicly available toilets in the Pump Room.  There are male, female, and accessible toilets on the ground floor of the visitor experience, which you are welcome to use – please speak to a member of staff for details.

Shopping

There is a gift shop in the Buxton Visitor Centre, which sells a range of exclusive Buxton gifts and homewares, not least our collection of themed glass water vessels, which you can purchase in order to take away some of your own Buxton spring water.

Track and trace

We are required to maintain visitor contact details for the NHS test and trace scheme. Details will be held securely for 21 days after your visit and will only share on request with NHS test and trace services.

FAQs

What is the experience? Set over 9 rooms on the ground floor and cellars of the Buxton Crescent, the Experience tells the stories of Buxton, the Crescent, Buxton Water and the many people through time who have visited to take its cure.
Is it part of the Hotel? While we are in the same building, and good neighbours of the hotel, the Crescent Visitor Experience is a separate organization, and not part of the hotel facilities.  Tickets are managed by a separate charity and access is only for this part of the building.  For enquiries related to the hotel, please visit https://www.ensanahotels.com/buxton/en
Does it include the natural spa? While we certainly tell the definitive story of the Buxton Mineral baths, the experience does not include a visit to the main hotel or spa.  For the full Buxton experience, we recommend visiting the hotel website to book a visit to the spa or stay.
Is it accessible? We are working hard to make the experience as accessible as possible for as many people as possible.  Find more details about our accessibility measures here:  https://buxtoncrescentexperience.com/plan-your-visit/#accessibility, and email us at hello@buxtoncrescentexperience.com if you have any questions or comments.
